Alexander David Gartlan (Alex)
Alex passed away peacefully on Thursday 18th April 2024 aged 76 years.
Son of Mary Carmel O'Leary (dec) and Edward Oscar Gartlan (dec).
Father of Davydd (dec) and Anna-Marie .
Father in law of Simon and Chrissy.
Grandfather of Amy (dec) Lauren, Harrison and Charley.
Ex husband of Kitty and Lyn.
Alex was born in Victoria on 16th June 1947.
Alex and Kitty married in 1972 and together moved from Melbourne to Hamilton in 1974 as a family.
Working for Telecom for many years and joining a local theatre company Dramas. Alex played many main and supporting roles in a variety of productions.
Moving to Roma in 1986.
Alex and Lyn married in 1989 in Brisbane, then settling in Rockhampton.
Alex was involved in AICRA helping many people across the community in and around Rockhampton.
Alex became a member of the Islamic Society of Central Queensland.
Teaching English and maths to youth and adults, he enjoyed conversations and friendships.
Alex passed away peacefully in the Rockhampton Base Hospital on Thursday 18th April after a short illness with his daughter by his side.
Alex has been laid to rest on Friday 19th April 2024 in Gracemere QLD , inline with his Islamic beliefs
